I attribute my 30-year "portfolio career" to having naturally led me to establishing WGP to serve mission-oriented small businesses and nonprofits. Every day I wake up excited about client work and strategic partnerships that support organizational growth. While most business leaders benefit from the consult of a seasoned thought partner, equally important is someone that will also help "do" the work. This is WGP's sweet spot. We help assess, innovate, strategize, plan and roll up our sleeves to do as much of the work as a client desires. In other words, we are planners and doers.
Fun fact, my career officially began in Honolulu, Hawaii, working for a small managed care organization where I had the privilege of working closely with leadership, offering a birds-eye view of strategic planning, business development and operations. My journey continued to roles with increasing responsibilities in San Francisco, then Philadelphia and back to San Francisco, where I was soon hired as the second of five senior staff members at the San Francisco Health Plan—a quasi public/private Medicaid start up—set to compete with BlueCross BlueShield of California when the state converted 20,000 individuals into a two-health plan model.
As the Director of Member and Provider Services, I established operations (from designing office space to customizing member services and IT systems), and created policy and procedure, hired and managed multi-cultural staff and more. This incredible role and enormous responsibility included a position on the Plan's Grievance Committee, work with Federally Qualified Healthcare Centers, hospitals, providers and members of the community, all while under the watchful eye of state regulators. Today, the San Francisco Health Plan, now serving over 190,000 members, consistently receives awards for excellence in quality care from the California Department of Health Care Services.
These formative years set the stage for two more decades of work and experiences led by my passion to help mission-driven businesses thrive. Another theme of my career has been developing key partnerships. Whether founding my own LLCs, leading event planning, music and performing arts program creation and expansion, marketing strategy, community development, fundraising, business planning and more, "my partners" have always been connected to my success. My work that continues with Mraz & Company, based in Richmond, Virginia, has provided amazing opportunities with national and regional nonprofits, executive conference production, marketing and business strategy and so much more. This strategic partnership and others continue to serve as project collaborators, strengthening perspectives and resources available to WGP clients.
Regardless of size, scale or complexity of client work, my personal mission is for clients to have an overwhelming sense of, "What would we have done without you?" at the end of every project.
Business and life in general is always better with strong support and meaningful connections. That's why strategic partnerships and other professional advisors are an essential part of WGP's model.
We maintain a deep bench of strategic partners with expertise in technology and AI solutions, legal, human resources, financial services and more. If for example, during an organizational assessment, we identify a high frequency technological pain point, we can quickly lean on our trusted technology partner to assess and advise on necessary change.
We all know that in mission-driven organizations, resources are often limited and hard choices have to be made around prioritizing investments in key systems and essential human capital, so we don't guess on priorities, we: Assess, Adapt and Plan. And, that means we bring in the right strategic support in a coordinated manner to minimize additional strain on clients and to maximize outcomes.

Her experience in project implementation and her ability to bridge strategy and execution make her one of the most effective strategic partners I have worked with."

"From the first meeting, Jane was professional, prepared and knowledgeable not only about our non-profit, but the current best practices all non-profits should abide by. During her time with us, she was able to quickly assess our strengths and weaknesses. She supported our work to enhance our strengths and helped us re-design the how, where and when to document critical data for our fundraising and continued booking of programs. We are more efficient, more knowledgeable about the data tools that we use as well as providing us with all of the procedures and processes that she developed for us.
One of her many strengths revolves around relationships. She easily forms collaborative relationships with other stakeholders in different geographical markets. Her communication is consistent and effective thus ensuring that programs are seamlessly implemented.
Jane is one of the most valuable contractors that we have had the pleasure of working with. I highly recommend her and know she will be an asset to your organization."

"Great ideas alone don’t succeed without great ingenuity and great effort. Jane Woodcox delivered on both in partnering with Elkinson + Sloves, Inc. on a wonderful national teen engagement programming called “Voice Your Dreams Project” for Boys & Girls Clubs of America in partnership with Mraz & Company.
Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s “I Have a Dream” speech, the Voice Your Dreams Project was designed as a free social justice themed arts education program, accessible to teens, grades 7-12, at more than 5,000 Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide. Boys & Girls Clubs need accessible, creative music and arts programming to engage the Clubs’ teens.
Jane perhaps had the most difficult part of this journey as she spearheaded the relationship with Boys & Girls Clubs of America director of national programming and was key in developing the educational modules, coordinating national recording artists and producers and creating an interactive website to help guide Club members in the art of writing lyrics. Professional songwriters and producers would then adapt winning lyrics to music; followed by a national premier of the winning song.
Although we have taken a pause in developing Voice Your Dreams, Jane was instrumental (literally and figuratively) in putting Voice Your Dreams in a good place when we again take up the baton.
Feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have.

"Jane is supremely organized, knowledgeable and resourceful. She was an invaluable strategic advisor as I tackled the overwhelming task of launching and marketing a debut novel, advising me and teaching me how to use strategic planning and productivity tools and helping me to prioritize, schedule and execute the myriad tasks involved in promoting a new book. She was also instrumental in devising—and helping me to implement—a social media plan, a crucial part of book promotion. I would highly recommend her to any organization or entrepreneur looking for a reliable and experienced thought partner with expertise in program development and designing marketing and publicity campaigns: She is insightful, efficient, and brimming with ideas—and she gets results."
